JAIPUR: Delhi moved provisionally to the top of Group D, after destroying Andaman & Nicobar 21-0 in Group D of the 28th Senior Women's National Football Championship for the Rajmata Jijabai Trophy at the Vidyadhar Nagar Stadium, in Jaipur, on Sunday, October 13, 2024.
In their first group stage match, Delhi ran riot against their opponents, with Deepika Pal (7’, 10’, 11’, 13’, 54’, 59’, 64’, 66’) scoring eight goals. Forward Fragrancy Riwan (4’, 9’, 28’, 45+3’, 52’) scored five, midfielder Ruchi (14’, 36’, 49’, 81’) netted four, substitute Debika Tanti (65’, 68’, 90+1’) added a hat-trick, while captain Saloni (32’) got one to her name.
In the day's second game in Group D, Maharashtra defeated Pondicherry 11-0.
Vaishnavi Barate (22’, 38’, 42’, 50’) scored four, while captain Arya More (16’, 90’), forward Payal Kothari (33’, 45+2’), and midfielder Ritika Singh (37’, 90+5’) netted two each. Substitute Sneha Uikey (71’) got one to her name.
For now, Maharashtra take the second spot in Group D, with Pondicherry and Andaman & Nicobar at third and fourth, respectively.
