NEW DELHI: The AIFF Elite Academy struck twice in the second half to register their second consecutive win against Sporting clube de Goa’s reserves in a friendly match played at Don Bosco Panjim.
Sporting Clube de Goa rallied from the beginning of the game to banish the memories of their midweek defeat to SESA FC in Goa Professional league. Oscar Bruzon’s side dominated the proceedings but were led down by poor finishing.
Anto Xavier came closest for Sporting clube de goa in 32nd minute with well-directed free kick from 25 yards, but was denied by a save from goalkeeper Sayak Barai.
Buoyed by that, Sporting ended the half on an optimistic note .At half time the score was 0-0.
On to the second half, the AIFF elite academy introduced the experience of 16 youth international capped Daniel Lalhlimpuia and Lalramzauva.
The deadlock was finally broken in 55th minute, when Daniel Lalhlimpuia’s blistering shot went pass goal keeper burying the ball into the back of the net.
The score was levelled at the hour mark when Goan outfits found their feet, Sadeek Ingalagondi curling a shot to the far post from the top on the penalty area.
In the 70th minute AIFF academy again went in the front when Lalramzauva’ stepped up for the free kick earned by Daniel Lalhlimpuia from 25 yards. The dead ball Specialist unleashed a swerving free-kick that zipped past Sporting clube de Goa’s keeper to bulge the net.
At the final whistle, a well-deserved 2-1 win over Sporting’s reserves helped the AIFF colts maintain their away winning streak.
