NEW DELHI: The All India Football Federation U-14 Regional Academy Boys trounced Betalbatim Sports Club U-16 Team 3-0 at the Chowgule Sports Complex in Goa.
Goals from midfielder Md Shahjahan in the first half and a double from attacking midfielder Abhijit Sarkar in the second secured a comfortable win for the colts who can are tipped to form the core of the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup Indian National Team.
The boys in blue combined well from the word go. Striker Shubham Sarnagi’s powerful left-footer from outside the 18-yard box came off the horizontal within the first 20 minutes.
In the 22nd Minute of the match Shahjahan opened the account for the Regional Academy when a defense splitting pass from midfielder Ajay Alex was very neatly finished by the former.
The second goal came from a corner kick after the break. A lofted curling ball to the far post found Abhijit who read the ball well and stabbed home from close.
In the 65th Minute Goa Academy were awarded a penalty after attacking midfielder Abhijit Sarkar was brought down by a rival defender inside the area. sarkar then stepped up to take the kick made no mistake to find the back of net with his cheeky left footer ,thus sealing it for Goa Regional Academy.
