NEW DELHI: The AIFF U-19 Colts went down fighting 0-2 against Aizawl FC in their opening fixture of the Independence Day Cup 2016 in Aizawl, Mizoram on July 29, 2016.

Aizawl FC took the lead in the 37^th minute and doubled their lead in the 45^th minute to go into the tunnel leading 2-0 at half-time.

The Indian Colts had an opportunity to minimize their deficit in the 75^th minute, after Aizawl FC failed to convert from the spot in the 67^th minute, when Edmund failed to tap the ball home following a cross from the right flank.

The Colts stepped up their ante but failed to test the Aizawl FC custodian. In the 85^th minute, Minga’s header off a Edmund cross flew whiskers wide of the post as the Indian Colts searched for a goal.

However the Aizawl FC defence stood strong to see out the match and Aizawl FC emerged eventual victors as the full-time scoreline read 2-0.
