NEW DELHI: Both FIFA U-17 World Cup bound All India Football Federation (AIFF) U-14 Regional Academy teams won 4-1 and 9-0 respectively against Bethany High School U-15 Boys in two friendly matches played at the Chowgule Sports Ground in Goa.
While Academy Team A thrashed their opponents 4-1, Team B marched to a commanding 9-0 win with seven of the goals coming after the breather.
The first match was played for 50 minutes while the second offing which was a goal fest took place for an hour.
AIFF Academy A team rode a brilliant hattrick from Abhijit Sarkar either side of halftime with another goal coming from Shahjahan in the dying minutes of the match.
Abhijit wasted no time in getting his name on the scoresheet ending a well worked move down the middle with a neat finish from close in the 9th minute.
A solo effort from the young striker resulted in his second 11 minutes later. Just when it looked like the match will end 2-1 with the visitors pegging one back, the forward rode a brilliant cross from the left to nod home his hattrick with the match 35 minutes old.
Shahjahan – like his name – added gloss to the scoreline scoring ten minutes from fulltime with a deft finish after a marauding run down the right channel.
Taking inspiration from fellow mates, the U-14 colts pulled no punches firing in nine goals past their hapless opponents.
Favad scored four goals and Boris Singh tried to match him with three as the Boys in blue turned on the heat post change of ends. Komal Thatal and Amay Avinash also got on the scoresheet.
The AIFF Regional Academy in Goa which had been operational since February 2013 has 34 boys in its roster.
