NEW DELHI: All India Football Federation’s U-19 Elite Academy were held to a goalless draw by Cavalossim Santacruz FC in a Friendly Match at the Chowghale Sports Complex on Saturday.
Santacruz FC, presently featuring in the Goa Professional League came into the game as firm favourites. But the AIFF colts enjoyed the majority of the possession in the first-half but could not break down a stubborn Cavalossim defence.
The Academy boys had their best chance when Kapil Boro’s overlap stretched the rival defence as he passed to Suman Sarkar. But Sarkar’s shot missed by a whisker.
The second-half began with the ambitious pressing by the visitors but Goalkeeper Sayak Barai was hard to beat.
Towards the end, an unmarked Cavalossim Striker James Fernandes attempted a free header but Sayak’s reflexes denied him.
The next Friendly match is scheduled against Sporting FC at Dulher, Mapusa on August 23.
