NEW DELHI: The AIFF Elite Academy were crowned Champions of U19 I-League, following a 2-0 win over United SC in their penultimate encounter of the Tournament in Pune on Wednesday (May 6, 2015).
The AIFF Elite Academy bagged 19 points in seven games and remained undefeated in the Championship.
Coming off a fantastic 6-0 win over Chanmari FC, the AIFF Academy Boys came into their last match of the Championship with bolstered and high spirits.
Attacking fluidity and defensive solidity, which has been an identity to the Academy boys was showcased to its fullest.
The Academy boys took the lead in the 28th minute when Sajid leapt higher than his marking defender, following a precise corner, and scored to breach the deadlock.
Averring their fluidity in attack with constant raids on the opponent citadel, the Academy boys doubled their lead two minutes into the extra time of the first half when Rakesh Oram’s delicious defence splitting through ball found Milan, who had evaded his marker.
The stalwart that Milan is did sheer justice to his chance and blasted the ball past a hapless Goalkeeper.
With the Academy boys scoring a late goal in the first period, the scoreline reflected 2-0 at the end of halftime.
Changing over and the Academy boys constantly tested the mettle of the opposing Goalkeeper, whilst safeguarded theirs with a brilliant display of teamwork and cohesion in defence.
Two goals proved a hefty challenge for the opponent Team as the Academy boys dominated possession and took charge of the game by its scruff.
With United SC failing to launch any dangerous attack against the Academy Boys, the latter grabbed an easy win, as the 2-0 scoreline remained stagnant at the end of fulltime.
