NEW DELHI: The All India Football Federation condoled the death of former Sports Minister of Goa, Francisco D’Cruz, who passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. He was 79.
A well-known sports administrator, D’Cruz was instrumental behind constructing the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, Goa, in record time for the Nehru Cup held in January 1989. In 1997, the then AIFF President, Mr Priyaranjan Dasmunshi presented D’Cruz with a memento on behalf of Goa Football Association.
The AIFF President Shri Kalyan Chaubey and Secretary General Mr Anilkumar condoled the death saying D’Cruz was a great football lover and colossal administrator of the game.
