New Delhi: Having amassed 6 points from the three matches in Group C, AIFF Academy boys qualify to the Semi-finals of the U-18 I-League. The AIFF Academy boys opened their campaign with a terrific 4-1 victory over Minerva Punjab FC before sealing their spot in the Semi-finals with a 2-1 win against DSK Shivajians. They went down 0-1 to Bengaluru FC in their last round-robin stage match against Bengaluru FC, who finish their campaign with 4 points from 3 matches.
Sourav TP scored the only goal of the match for Bengaluru FC in the 52nd minute, which eventually mad the difference between the two teams.
AIFF Academy boys got their first chance in the 16th minute when Ragav made a cutting-edge pass to Minga but he couldn't connect properly to make the best out of it.
Biswa, Moya, Ragav were coordinating well but the final touch was missing amongst them.
After the changeover, Sourav TP netted the only goal of the match in the 52nd minute which finally helped them bag all three points from the match, taking their tally to four points from the group stage.
After 70 minutes, Floyd Pinto introduced Zama and Joseph, having withdrawn Minga and Ragav. With 10 minutes left on the clock, he introduced Zonunmawia too but the equaliser eluded them until the final whistle.
East Bengal, with 7 points in their kitty, qualify from Group B as the group champions also.
