NEW DELHI: Nishu Kumar, Japes Singh and Rakesh Oram scored as AIFF Elite Academy beat Santacruz Club of Cavalossim 3-0 in a friendly match on October 9 at Chowghale Sports complex.
Santacruz FC, who drew their midweek game in Goa Professional League against League leaders Salgoacar FC showed pace and purpose from the start of the game.
The AIFF colts took control of possession and territory but, despite their pressure, Santacruz’s goalkeeper was not called in action until 30 minutes, when Nishu Kumar slotted a 30 yard free-kick home.
Santacruz FC came closest to settle the debts with Allwyn Fernandes’s blistering free kick hitting the woodwork two minutes from the break.
At half time, the score was 1-0.
The scoreline could have been more one-sided. After a cautious opening to second half the AIFF Elite Academy quickly took a firm grip on proceedings and never relinquished it.
Japes Singh ended his barren run of 60 minutes in front of goal with a stylish solo effort low past rival goalkeeper.
The introduction of substitute Rakesh Oram gave the AIFF Boys more attacking traction. Oram headed the ball into the net from point blank range on Malsawmzuala’s measured cross.
This helped AIFF colts in sealing a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Santacruz club of Cavalossim.
The next friendly match is schedule on October 18, 2014.
