NEW DELHI: Jammu & Kashmir played out a goalless draw against Himachal Pradesh in the last match of Group B North Zone Qualifiers for the 68th Santosh Trophy here at the Ambedkar Stadium on Tuesday (February 4, 2013).
Courtesy the result, J&K finished on four points from three matches while Himachal Pradesh opened their account in the final game.
J&K’s Prem Kumar and substitute Toufeeq Ahmed struck the crossbar twice in the second half.
The only meaningful chance of the first half fell to J&K striker Prem Kumar who failed to convert from a one on one situation shooting straight at the goalkeeper. Prem also had the option of sending his strike partner Shahid Mushtaq in the clear but he decided to go solo instead.
After the break, Prem could have made amends for his first half miss but his effort from just outside the box cannoned out of the crosspiece. Toufeeq Ahmed’s 84th minute volley met with the same fate as J&K ended their campaign ruing the hatful they have spurned not only in the match but throughout the Qualifiers.
